How do you care for a Serissa plant?
The plant dislikes sudden change in lighting and many die from lack of light when brought indoors. WATERING – Keep Serissa evenly moist. It generally needs lots of water during warm weather, so much so that some authorities recommend placing it in a tray of water. Others warn against this as it encourages root rot.

What does Serissa smell like?
Serissa foetida derives its name from the fetid smell of its bark and roots when they are crushed or cut. Foetida is literally ‘foul-smelling’ in Latin. (It should be noted that S. foetida is sometimes referred to by its old Latin name Serissa Japonica).
How do you propagate Serissa?
Propagation: Cuttings root quite easily. Lesniewicz recommends using 4 inch cuttings in a glass of water from early summer on. The Samsons recommend bottom heat which would probably induce rooting faster.

How do you plant serissa hedge?
Shade to partial shade, would be the best light conditions for this tiny shrub. Serissa is cold hardy but does require fertile, moisture retentive soil. Plant in soil that is free of nematodes if possible. Mulching around serissa is almost a must to keep out competing weeds and to retain water.
