Can you upgrade runes in d2?
Runes can be upgraded to higher runes through the Horadric Cube. El through Ort can all be upgraded similarly to gems by placing three of the same type in the cube and receiving one of a higher grade in return. Higher levels of runes can also be upgraded, but require an additional gem as well.
Can you upgrade runes in d2 resurrected?
You can use your Horadric Cube to upgrade Runes to higher-level ones. To do this, you need to have: 3 Runes of one type lower than your target rune (Runes #1-21) or 2 Runes of one type lower than your target rune (Runes 22-33).
Should you cube up runes?
Yeah, cubing runes low runes is a waste of time, but they are useful for cube recipes and crafting, so I still pick them up. I really only cube Gul and Sur runes. It is NEVER worth it to cube Ber runes, imo. I’ve seen 5 Jah drop in my time playing Diablo 2, but I have never seen a Ber drop outside of Lower Kurast.
What runes are worth keeping d2?
Ral, Tal, Thul and Amn are most valuable low runes because apart from the runewords and Crafted items they are required for recipes for adding sockets to items in the cube and for upgrading normal Uniques and Rares.

Besides the quest and the key, the Countess is most popular for her ability to drop numerous high level runes. She is the best single source of runes in the game, and many players “run” her over and over again to obtain them.

You can craft Lo Runes with a Horadric Cube using 2 Ohm + 1 Diamond (Ladder Only) and also has a chance to drop in Act 2 (Hell) Difficulty. This rune is also used in Runewords such as Doom, Hand of Justice, and Destruction.
Should I sell my runes?
You should sell Golden Runes only when you actually intend to spend them. Think of them as a rune savings account. Access them only when you really need to use them. Unlike normal Runes, Golden Runes aren’t lost when you die, they remain in your inventory.
Should I keep low runes?
In general it is useful to keep a low runes for 2-3 runewords. Some good runewords need Els or Elds. But in general those four runes – and Orts needed to make Thuls – are worth stocking on because then you get options for crafting items.
