What are the components of the edTPA?
The edTPA includes the following three main parts:
- Task 1: Planning for Instruction and Assessment.
- Task 2: Instructing and Engaging Students in Learning.
- Task 3: Assessing Student Learning.
Why is it important to know about edTPA?
edTPA is a performance-based, subject-specific assessment and support system used by teacher preparation programs throughout the United States to emphasize, measure and support the skills and knowledge that all teachers need from Day 1 in the classroom.
What is the central focus in a lesson plan?
Central Focus: The central focus is an overarching, big idea for student learning in literacy. The central focus is a description of the important understandings and core concepts that you want students to develop within the learning segment.
Why is a central focus important to teaching?
The Central Focus in a lesson plan is a description of what the lesson or unit is trying to accomplish. It conveys the core concepts that you want students to develop in the learning section of the lesson plan. Instead, it should align with content standards (or Common Core standards) and learning objectives.
How many times can you retake edTPA?
Retake limits. A candidate can register for only one retake at a time (either full-assessment retake or partial retake). Candidates must wait to receive scores from their last submission before they can register for another retake.
What is the central focus for edTPA?
The EdTPA defines the “Central Focus” as “the long-term goal that unites the learning targets.” It does not have to be accomplished within the learning segment. In early forms of the EdTPA, the “Central Focus” was simply defined as a “concept.” Central Focus unites learning objectives across learning segments.
What is the evaluation criteria for edTPA?
Students must list 3 similarities and 6 differences. At least 6 of the nine responses must be correct. There must be at least 2 correct in each of the 3 sections of the Venn Diagram so as to indicate that the student met the objective of identifying similarities and differences.
How long should my edTPA video be?
Two clips, no more than 15 minutes total running time. Video or Audio Evidence of Learning: For each focus child, submit one video or audio clip of no more than 7 minutes in length.
How do I pass the teaching reading Praxis?
Start with the ETS Praxis 5203 or Praxis 5204 study companions. Time yourself on a few Praxis Teaching Reading practice tests to see if you need to practice speeding up. Look for action verbs in the constructed response questions of your Praxis Teaching Reading practice test questions.
What is the edTPA process?
