The artist retains 100% of the legal rights to their music, and CD Baby lets artists obtain payouts from streams, downloads, sales, sync licensing, YouTube Music monetization, publishing royalties, and more.
Does CD Baby take a cut?
CD Baby charges a one-time $35 fee for each album you want to sell through them (digital or physical), and takes a 9% cut of each download.
How long does it take for CD Baby to get your music on Spotify?
Please allow at least 1-2 weeks for inspection. We always recommend selecting a release date at least 6 weeks from the date you submit for distribution to allow enough time to promote your music and ensure your release date is honored.
How long does it take for CD Baby to review an album?
Our current inspection timeline is about 10 days. Once our inspectors review it, they’ll email you if there are any issues or let you know it’s finalized and distributed.
Does CD Baby Do copyright?
CD Baby does not handle copyright registration on behalf of artists for any submission. Copyright registration can only be done directly through the U.S. Copyright Office. However, to simplify what can be a complicated process, CD Baby has partnered with Cosynd.

How long does it take to get paid from CD Baby?
Payments will generally come about 6 months after your submission, but may take longer depending on the territory and venue. CD Baby will not be able to provide you information about the status of your setlist submission or its payment.
