Who built the powerhouse?
Roy Rusden Ogg
The Powerhouse was designed by Roy Rusden Ogg, the architect for the Brisbane City Council’s Tramways Department. He was also responsible for the design of eight Tramways substations. In 1929 the first section of the stores building was constructed.

The Government of Queensland decided that there should be one electrical authority for South East Queensland in 1961. In 1963, the City Council sold the New Farm powerhouse to the Southern Electrical Authority which was part of the Queensland Government.
