Does Godrevy lighthouse still work?
Godrevy Lighthouse was modernised in 1995 when it was converted to solar powered operation. The light was moved from the lighthouse tower to a new steel structure on the adjacent rock in 2012. The lighthouse is now monitored and controlled from Trinity House’s Planning Centre in Harwich, Essex.

0.6 miles (0.9 km) Easy – A short walk, with one stile and one gentle climb. Due to the stile, only part of this walk is likely to be suitable for people with impaired mobility or with a pushchair. This short walk has great views across St Ives Bay, and out to the lighthouse on Godrevy Island just off shore.

The surface waves constantly swept over the site, and indeed the lowest blocks had to be laid a third of a metre beneath low water mark. A heavy coffer dam was erected around the site and the water within pumped out, so that the masons might be able to work on a dry rock face.

Can you walk from Hayle to St Ives?
The Hayle to St Ives walk is an extension of the previous walk; a circular walk which is just over 6 miles in total. However, you do have the option of getting a bus or train to Hayle and then walking back to St Ives.

Can dogs go on Gwithian beach?
Please note: Dogs are welcome on this beach except during July and August (10am – 6pm) when a seasonal dog ban is in place (2020) between Ceres Rock and Red River. This boundary has been adjusted following the collapse of the steps at St Peters Point which left the area where dogs were allowed inaccessible.
Where are the grey seals in Cornwall?
The best place to see seals is Mutton Cove at Godrevy Point in West Cornwall. At low tide, a resident colony of grey seals can be viewed in this protected sheltered bay from the cliff tops.
What time of year can you see seals in Cornwall?
Please note that in Cornwall the seal pupping season is usually August to December with the peak months in October and November, but in the last two years, the pupping season appears to have become a lot shorter and more intense with most pups being born in late Sep and Oct.
