What is the difference between Oyster card and Travelcard?
As I understand it, an Oyster Card is a plastic card onto which you load money for fares on public transport. There is also a Visitor Oyster Card. The only differences I’ve been able to discern are that the Visitor version has a non-refundable fee and it can’t be loaded with a Travelcard.

The advantage of contactless if you have it is convenience i.e. you already have the cards so no need to get Oysters as well. But if you feel more comfortable having separate Oyster cards for your travel then that’s fine. Amex cards should be fine for tube and bus fares.
